Why Is My PRISM+ Air Conditioner Leaking Water?

PRISM+ Support teamUpdated 27 August 2026

Water leaking from your Air Conditioner is not considered normal. In many cases, water leakage is caused by a blocked drainage pipe, but other factors such as poor installation, wear and tear, a damaged drain pan, or a dirty air filter may also contribute to the issue.

What Could Be Causing the Water Leakage?

Possible CauseWhat HappensWhat You Can Do
Clogged Drainage PipeDirt can build up in the drainage pipe, preventing condensation from flowing out properly. This can cause water to flow back into the drainage tray and leak from the Aircon.Servicing is required to clean and clear the blockage.
Wear and TearAir Conditioner components may naturally deteriorate over time, which can contribute to water leakage.Contact PRISM+ Support for further assistance.
Damaged Drain PanThe drain pan collects condensation. If it is damaged or has gaps, collected water may leak from the tray.Contact PRISM+ Support for further assistance.
Elevated Drainage Pipe OutletIf the drainage pipe outlet is positioned too high, water may flow back into the pipe instead of being discharged through the outlet.Check whether the drainage pipe outlet is elevated.
Dirty Air FilterA dirty air filter can restrict airflow across the evaporator coil, potentially causing the coil to freeze. When the ice melts, excess water may leak from the Aircon.Remove and wash the air filter with water, then reinstall it once clean.
Poor MaintenanceAir Conditioners require regular cleaning and servicing to operate optimally. Lack of maintenance may contribute to issues such as water leakage.Regular servicing is recommended every 3 to 4 months

So, What Can I Check Myself when this happens???

For proper maintenance and optimal operation, Air Conditioners should be cleaned and serviced every 3 to 4 months.

Regular servicing can help prevent dirt and debris from accumulating and contributing to issues such as water leakage.
