If your fridge suddenly isn’t cooling properly, don’t panic! There are a few simple checks you can try to remedy the situation.

Steps

  1. 1
    1 min
    • Check if the fridge is plugged in securely.
    • Make sure the power outlet is working.
  2. 2
    1 min
    • Confirm the temperature control hasn’t been accidentally changed.
    • Recommended fridge setting: around 3–5°C.
  3. 3
    1 min
    • Avoid overloading the fridge, as poor airflow can prevent proper cooling.
    • Ensure vents inside the fridge are not blocked by food containers.
  4. 4
    1 min
    • Dust and dirt buildup on the back or bottom coils can affect cooling.
    • Gently vacuum or clean the coils if accessible.
  5. 5
    1 min
    • Check if the door is closing properly.
    • Worn-out seals let cold air escape, reducing cooling efficiency.

What You Can Do

  • Restart the Fridge: Unplug it for a few minutes and plug it back in.
  • Check for Ice Build-Up: In frost-free models, too much ice can block airflow.
  • Give It Time: If you’ve just restocked with lots of groceries, the fridge may take several hours to stabilize.
