Backlight bleeding and IPS glow occur when light from the display's backlight becomes visible around certain areas of the screen, especially when displaying dark images.
You may notice:
- Light appearing along the edges of the screen
- Brighter corners when viewing dark scenes
- A slight glow when viewing the screen from different angles
This is a known characteristic of IPS panel technology and is not unique to PRISM+ products.
Is My Display Defective?
No.
Backlight bleeding and IPS glow are considered normal characteristics of IPS displays and are not classified as manufacturing defects.
The amount of visible glow or light leakage can vary between individual units, even among products of the same model.
Why Does It Happen?
IPS panels are designed to provide:
- Wider viewing angles
- Better colour accuracy
- Consistent image quality
Due to the way IPS panel technology is constructed, some light may be more visible around certain areas of the display when viewing dark content. This is a known limitation of IPS technology across the industry.

Can It Be Removed Completely?
No. There is currently no way to completely eliminate backlight bleeding or IPS glow on IPS panels, as these are inherent characteristics of the technology.
How Can I Reduce Its Visibility?
While the effect cannot be completely removed, you may be able to reduce its visibility by:
- Lowering Screen Brightness
- Reducing the display brightness can make light leakage less noticeable, particularly when viewing dark scenes.
Adding Ambient Lighting
Using the display in a well-lit room or adding soft ambient lighting behind the screen can help reduce the perceived visibility of IPS glow and backlight bleeding.
Viewing Content Under Normal Conditions
Backlight bleeding is typically less noticeable during everyday use, such as watching movies, gaming, or browsing content under normal room lighting.
